Circuit City has just dropped the prices again on the Plasma and LCD TV prices, up to 40% off now. Though I have not received an official email like I have in the past from Circuit City on the current liquidation prices, I did see the television commercial yesterday. Why the current stock is getting low, I called my local Circuit City, they had plenty 50″ Panasonic Plasmas, and a hand full of the 46″ Panasonic Plasmas left.
Might be worth stepping into your Circuit City, and see what kind of deals they’re left. And as always, checkout Amazon.com to make sure you’re getting a good deal.
Sounds like Circuit City is slashing prices again in the liquidation sale, according to an email they just sent out. Personally, I’m only concerned with TV’s, and so far, these really are not bargain deals. Really, if you’re in the mood to purchase a LCD or Plasma TV, then your best bet, is to hop on Amazon.com, and look at the deals they have, and stay away from these liquidators. With just a month or so left in the liquidation sale, at some point, they’ll continue to drop prices on their LCD and Plasma televisions. In all reality, when they reach 50% off or so, that’s when you should make your move. For now, just wait it out folks.
So I wake up this morning, and find one of those new “Slashed Prices” emails from Circuit City in my email. Okay, maybe the prices are actually starting to come down. We’ll, are they trying to take us for dumb or what. Last week, the cut prices on TV’s to 25% for Plasmas and 20% for LCD’s. Not bad I guess for the average Joe, slightly cheaper than Bestbuy on some products, while not really competing with online shops like Amazon, etc. But now they come out with this new email update, saying “Prices Slashed Again.” Same old Liquidation practices, trying to fool us into thinking the prices have dropped. They’re trying to market that the Plasma prices have been slashed, up to 25% off. Hello, they did that last week before the Super Bowl. Personally, I’m not buying anything from Circuit City in this Liquidation. Staying away.

So now that the Super Bowl is over, and the rush to purchase those big screen LCD’s and Plasma’s is over, well, for the most part. When will Circuit City Liquidators drop the price. I know, I know, they have the 20% LCD and 25% Plasma discount, but if you all do your research, and you should, before you purchase, that is really no big discount to get excited over. I’ve heard rumors, that the discount will not increase above those percentages, but I have a funny feeling, that they will. Remember, all the stock has to be out by March. We just started February, so that gives them roughly a month to get it out. Hopefully, if consumers are smart, they’ll hold off, and as it comes to the deadline, they’ll have no other option to lower the price. We’ll, that’s my theory at least.
Thoughts on this?
Circuit City today announced the immediate closure of all their stores, and a liquidation phase that starts Saturday, January 17th. Their website http://www.circuitcity.com reports that “Due to challenges to our business and the continued bleak economic environment, Circuit City is going out of business and the company’s assets will be liquidated to pay off creditors.” Circuit City has been in business for over 60 years, and was hoping that the company would be able to emerged from the Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as a more competitive and stronger company. However, due to the current economic conditions and dropping sales, their is no other choice than liquidation (maybe now’s the time to get that new LCD flat panel that you’ve been putting off).
