best buy

So I took the kids to see the 3D showing of Despicable Me. The movie was great and the kids seemed to enjoy it. What was even better was the Best Buy Movie Mode app. The app will sync with the characters in the movie, called “Minions” during the end credits. I used two phones when i took the kids, I used my iPhone 3GS running iOS 4 and also brought my wifes Android.

This is a pretty cool app that was created by Best Buy and Crispin Porter & Bogusky. The Best Buy Movie Mode app is defiantly a first of it’s kind and all I can wonder, is what will this do to the future of theaterical movies. If you have kids, take them to the 3D showing. If you have a iPhone, Android, Blackberry, or Windows Mobile phone, get the app!

Good job Best Buy!

Best Buy

First found on CrunchGear.com, Best Buy likes to wish everyone a happy Thanks Giving, we’ll, except for the Christians.

Best Buy stands by its decision to wish U.S. Muslims a Happy Eid Al-Adha, a rep for the company said, and though some Best Buy customers took offense, a Muslim advocacy group praised the move. However, some are still pretty upset about the move.

?Among my major purchases from BB over the years were a plasma big screen, a fridge and a laptop. No more. In 2006 you discontinued the use of ? Merry Christmas? in your ?holiday? messages.  Yet one of your ad inserts wishes your customers a happy ?Eid al-Adha? ( a Muslim goat throat slitting festivity) . Clearly the liberal/ PC culture in your corporate offices is biased against Christians and traditional American values. So, in 2009 I discontinue Best Buy. Good riddance.?

Hello A m a z o n

- A proud patriotic Christian American.

The retailer got some flak this week for including, along with its circular advertising Thanksgiving Day sales, a note saying ?Happy Eid Al-Adha,? which refers to a holiday of sacrifice for followers of Islam on Nov. 27 this year. After TechCrunch ran an item about the circular, some claimed offense and said they?d take their business elsewhere. ?I spent about $3,000 with . . . your store. I will be shopping somewhere else,? one consumer wrote on Best Buy?s Web forum. ?BB has the Muslims covered with the ?Happy Eid,? but what about the rest of us Americans?? wrote another. ?Do we get a ?Happy Thanksgiving???

So is everyone totally freakin? stoked about the new Best Buy in New York City?! Yeah, I didn?t think so. But if you need a late night electronics fix and you?re around Union Square, the brand-new flagship store is open 24-hours a day. First one in the world, actually. Did anyone else miss out on the fact that Best Buy sells musical instruments now? I had no idea, but apparently over 80 stores across the country now carry your standard rhythm section fare of drums, guitars, and basses, along with a full DJ gear section and live sound equipment. They seem to be working towards crafting the store into a venue as well. Past performers  at the Union Square position include 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, will.i.am, and Rihanna. But playing a show in a Best Buy? Is that?s what cool these days? Cool enough for pop music I guess. You can follow the store on Facebook for updates on whose playing. But the best part about all this (yes there is a best part) is that this store has an exclusive deal with Roland to carry the Roland Ax-Synth. That?s right. Keytars are back in business baby!

Hint Helper 4000
Best Buy has just launched the Hint Helper 4000. The Best Buy Hint Helper 4000 is a online tool to tell help hint your friends and family as to what you really want this Christmas season. Ahh, no more coffee mugs or tools for the garage. How about a 46″ Sony Bravia XBR, featuring 1080P resolution and 240Hz refresh field, just sick. To bad no one in my family will buy it. Here’s to wishing, and hinting. [Read More]
