Windows 7 RTM on Mac Book Pro – Leopard

July 28, 2009 · 18 comments

So I just got done installing Windows 7 RTM on my mac book pro, boot camp style. People, I have to admit, compared to Vista, this OS has come along way. Is it perfect, everything we need and more, no, but in every aspect I can see as of now, it puts Vista to shame.

The only issue I had after installing was no audio. Even installing the Boot Camp drivers, I was un-able to get any audio. I noticed that on the audio head phone jack, that it was red. Interesting I though, because when I’m running Leopard, that does not happen. So after much googling, I found that downloading the Realtek High Definition Audio and installing, finally gave me what I was looking for, sound!

Other than the audio issue, everything else seems to be working quite well. One thing I really like, which only seems to work on IE8, not on Google Chrome, is if you have multiple tabs open, and move the mouse over the IE thumbnail, you get a snap shot of all your open tabs.

I also installed the RTM without problems on both of my macbook pros, did you activated it already?

I think it activated, but since I don’t have a key for it, I only have 30 days to use it.

You?

For those noob people who can’t activate it, it is because you’re telling 7 to download updates automatically, then it downloads the patch from M$ to tell you it’s illegitimate and blah blah, you have to tell windows DISABLE AUTOMATIC UPDATES and of course don’t update manually! So go format, reinstall, tell windows you don’t want updates, go to control panel to verify updates are disabled, and then apply crack, patch or whatever!

how did you guys managed to activate on the mac? don’t those loaders try to do something to the BIOS but macs have no BIOS?
that’s the only reason I’m holding on to m win7RC over the one out there on the fields.

Don’t know, but it only activated on my Macbook pro, for Windows 7. I tried win 7 on my dell at home, and the loader wouldn’t work at all, but seems to work on my Macbook Pro. Strange.

For all those with the activation problems, download 7loader 1.5.

AND MAKE SURE YOU RIGHT CLICK AND RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
